I began writing about medicine and health in 2001, when I worked closely with Dr. Larry Stephenson, then chief of cardiothoracic surgery at Harper Hospital in Detroit, on his patient-centered guide to heart surgery, State of the Heart. I found the experience challenging and ultimately rewarding, and it sparked a deep interest in health, medicine and nutrition. The book was awarded an Independent Publisher Book Award.

After that, I deepened my knowledge in various fields and began to pursue health-related projects whenever possible. Please call or e-mail with any questions. A few highlights of my experience include:

—I worked with Cappella, Inc., a medical device company, to produce an article on the novel Sideguard coronary stent system for publication in Interventional Cardiology (2011).

—I wrote multiple chapters for Comprehensive Dental Assisting for Lippincott, Williams & Wilkins (2010). This textbook is designed to prepare dental assistant students for their licensing exams and eventual employment. The title is scheduled for a 2011 release.

—I provided nutrition content and program management for the Rob Nevins' Skinny Switch Secret online newsletter program (2008-2010). I produced multiple monthly mailings  for a rapidly growing subscriber base, as well as provided detailed tracking metrics to measure performance.

—I updated and maintained a database of cardiologist-edited articles on heart disease for iVillage, a unit of NBC (2002-2008).

—I was lead editor for a comprehensive online directory of dietary supplements and their uses in various diseases for Life Extension Foundation. Each health protocol was extensively referenced, using the most current clinical studies, and reviewed by at least three MDs (2004-2006).

—Through Healthology.com, I edited CME programs for various organizations, including the American College of Cardiology.
My health-related articles on topics such as choosing the right medical practice, celebrity physicians, new cholesterol tests, cardiac health and dietary supplements have appeared in national magazines.

—I've edited or indexed trade health titles such as the Schwarzbein Principle (Diana Schwarzbein, MD), The Gold Coast Cure (Andrew Larson, MD) and How Not to Be My Patient (Edward Creagan, MD).

—I worked intensively with John Abele, cofounder of Boston Scientific Corp., to produce the definitive history of Boston Scientific and interventional cardiology.
